Mount Brown
Situated on the lower western slopes of the Waipara Valley, Mount Brown captures the unique features of the region, producing elegant wines with intense aromas.
The vineyard is family owned and managed by Tony Rutherfurd, his son Mike and daughter Catherine. First established in the 1980's, the original vineyard was one of the first in Waipara. Since then, the vineyard has been replanted to include regional specialities Pinot Noir and Riesling along with Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris.
The region is characterised by long, hot autumns, cool nights and low rainfall. The soils differ dramatically through-out Waipara; the western side of the valley where Mount Brown is located has well-drained, sandy gravel soils. The terroir, our rigorous viticultural practises and exacting wine-making all combine to produce our stunning wines.
