Christchurch people have the chance to try and buy the wines of the Waipara Valley at one of their favorite venues, the Christchurch Art Gallery. Fine art and fine wine are a great pairing at “a Taste of Waipara”. Cantabrians will relish the chance of trying fine wines from this rapidly growing wine region.
The Waipara Valley is a serious wine region but not everyone would know that every year more than 200 different wines are made right on Christchurch City’s back door step. The wineries of the Waipara Valley are just a short, scenic 40 minute drive from Christchurch.
Director Marketing for Waipara Valley Winegrowers, Janyne Harman says “Now it is even easier to try top quality wines from a large number of different Waipara Valley wineries. We are coming to town so that the people of Christchurch sample our superb wines and meet our winemakers in person.”
The event to be held on Thursday 2 February, is the initiative of the Waipara Valley Winegrowers Inc, a co-operative of over 40 wine producers who recently joined forces to promote the up and coming wines from the Waipara Valley in scenic North Canterbury’s rural heartland. The event will consist of an invitation only trade tasting in the morning and early afternoon and this will be followed by a ticketed public tasting starting at 4.00pm in the afternoon.
Tickets for the public tasting are on sale now, are $25 each and are available from Ticketek (03 377 8899 or www.ticketek.co.nz). Please note that Ticketek service fees will apply. Purchase your tickets before 26 January 2006 and you will be in the draw for six bottles of premium Waipara Valley Wine.
