Magic!! where the mountains meet the sea.....
So many first class attractions all in one spot! Scenic flights, whale watching, diving, Maori culture and much more.
Kaikoura has a truly special setting, with snow-capped mountains rising almost straight from the Pacific ocean. Beneath the water's surface are deep canyons that provide a home to an exciting array of sea creatures including the Giant Sperm Whale. Whales live there all year round making this one of the best places in the world for whale watching.
Maori have known about the richness of this area for a long time, and they have a rich history that goes back more than 900 years.
On a clear morning when the ocean is flat (which is often) Kaikoura is every bit as spectacular as The Remarkables, Mount Cook or Milford Sound.
Kaikoura is about midway between Christchurch International Airport and the ferry terminal at Picton linking New Zealand's North and South Islands. It's a small town that offers a big range of things to do (and it's heaven for seafood lovers!).
