The Greening Waipara project recently made it to the finals of the Canterbury-Aoraki Conservation Board Awards - an annual recognition of conservation efforts and achievements in Canterbury.
The award itself was taken out by the Helps family’s 20 year project saving Little Blue penguins on their farm at Flea Bay, Banks Peninsula.
The Director General of DoC Al Morrison gave out the awards and was impressed by what GW has achieved after such a short time, and encouraged the group to enter again next year.
